19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hard courts

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his initial championship for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The athlete, a former number one, has experienced a challenging season, managing just one match at the major tournaments and experiencing a meltdown at the US Open.

The player's varied form on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in especial - led to him falling of the elite rankings and eventually splitting with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.

Now collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has gradually improved in the last few weeks - peaking in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This marks his maiden trophy after the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard surface after March of 2023.

Victory also indicates he has won twenty-one titles at twenty-one various events.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a tournament with my children simultaneously, so to win a championship is particularly special," commented world number 14 Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his past six finals, including in the German tournament in the past months.

The player's retrieving play style and regular reactions on the tennis court had caused commentators to question if his skill to perform at the highest level was over.

But the athlete has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, making an effort to approach the net and play positively, backed up by an improved serve.

Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the initial set against the tricky Moutet, securing 4 of the last five games to go ahead.

The competitors traded break points in the following set before Moutet, attempting for his initial professional championship, gained dominance to create a final set.

The opponent defended four early-game break points in a tight deciding set before the Russian secured a break to that score to close out the victory.

Suitably, Medvedev clinched the title with a shot at the net, with his opponent incapable to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
